It's about time I mentioned what I do for a living. I work for a web design firm based in Sheffield. We're pretty new but we're affiliated with a management consultancy. I'm responsible for content writing for the websites and search engine optimisation. I also help define the required information architecture of sites we build.

An example of work we've done is this free student dating site. The idea is students throughout the UK can register for free and meet other students. This is a pretty straightforward site which will probably go through several more iterations of development to add features and benefits. I wrote most of the dating help and tips among other things, which is quite ironic given how constantly single I am.

It's been a while since I've written anything for my blog. It seems I only get inspired to do so when I have something more important to do. What I should really be doing is writing material for my dissertation, or perhaps doing the research (nah...silly idea!) I just can't get inspired to write it - i guess because I never really wanted to do the course in the first place.

Well - I've had some stress problems of late, so I've moved out of the flat I was in, and am temporarily staying with my mate Stu in Chesterfield, where we amuse ourselves by ranting for hours about how much we hate everything.

Just lately I've found that my concentration and attention spans are getting shorter - and I can't start or get on with tasks very well. Like this post. I'm bored already.

I've finished my dissertation proposal! Now I just have to tackle my assignments for E-Business, E-Publishing, Database Design, Human Computer Interaction, JavaScript and the other Database Design...

... oh, and the dissertation of course.

Writer's Block

I have a problem. I need to do about 200 words more on my dissertation proposal to get up to the word count, and I can't think of anything to write without just repeating myself. My main problem is I don't seem to have much of a theoretical framework behind my approach. If I could be bothered to read more (or indeed anything) about research methodology I might be able to come up with something, but to be quite honest, I can't think of anything more dull.

Maybe I should try to do something on one of my other assignments instead, but I really wanted to get this done and dusted.

Ah, well; back to the grindstone...

Of course, I have 2 assignments due in on Friday, but that's by the by...

Hey all.

Well, I say all - but let's face it, nobody's going to read this. This is the first post on my new blog. Chances are, I'll get bored of blogging pretty quickly, but there you go.

Obviously, this isn't what I should be doing now. I should be doing assignments for Uni. Oh, well. Better get back to it.
